Bas de Rode Cello Rent or Purchase

Cello: to rent or to buy?

In order to play, practise and be able to take lessons, it is important to have an instrument for yourself. Of course you don’t need to buy one right away. Best is to rent one, especially in the beginning. There are smaller cellos especially suitable for children. Apart from the size, these are not different from the bigger ones. Together we’ll measure the right size for you.

I have a couple of cellos for rent for my students. If I don’t have an instrument available for you, it is always possible to go to a violin maker. I can help you find one that rents out instruments. For rental, repair or buying an instrument, I often suggest Maas Vioolbouw.

If you are considering buying your own cello, and need some advice, I’d be happy to help.

Wat do the students say?

Anastassiya & Sophie (6)

Sebastian’s teaching method works wonderfully for my 6 year old daughter, who really enjoys his playfully engaging and very patient, gentle approach. She loves the quickly learned “cool cello tricks” he often gives at the end of the class to keep the motivation going.

Sabine & Paul (10)

Was für ein kompetenter und zugleich einfühlsamer und humorvoller Cellolehrer, der noch dazu fließend Deutsch spricht! Ein großer Glücksfall für unseren 10-jährigen Sohn. Unbedingt empfehlenswert!“

Isabelle (10)

I just love playing together with him!

Julie (10)

Hi, my name is Julie, and I am 10 years old. I’ve played the cello for 3 years now, and I love it.
Bas is a kind teacher, who takes the time to explain when you ask something. Ik think he is a good cello teacher, because he has a sense of humour, and teaches you at the same time. And I hope I will learn from him for the next 100 years!
